Asset Campus Housing Gets Creative to Increase Student Housing Facebook Fan Base

Asset Campus Housing added over 10,000 new Facebook fans to the company’s property Facebook pages this month by stirring up company employee’s creative juices. “Students are on Facebook all the time,” according to Asset Campus Housing Director of Marketing Joe Goodwin, “so we really make it a priority to emphasize using this form of social media to communicate with them.”

Goodwin knew a little friendly competition would be a great way to drive the company’s fan base up. “We started a competition among properties to see who could add the most fans in a 2 week period. And our properties got extremely creative,” said Goodwin. By sending out text messages and posting messages on Facebook walls, property managers were able to get the word out about promotions designed to get students to sign up to be fans.

“All it took was a $20 drawing or free pizza in some cases and suddenly the property offices were flooded with kids signing up. It even drew in students who are not currently living at our properties,” according to Goodwin.

Cambridge at Tyler won the competition, increasing their fan base by over 1800%.

“Ultimately, our clients benefit from this inexpensive way to communicate with students and promote their properties,” said Goodwin.
